The Writers’ Council

The Writers’ Council is the interdisciplinary leadership team of the Eakins Writers’ Workshop, Evanescent journal, and The Yeo Writing Prize.

Stanton Miller, MD, MPH, FACS graduated from Jefferson Medical College in 1980 and received his MPH from Johns Hopkins University in 2003. He is a Clinical Associate Professor of Surgery and Emergency Medicine, and Executive Director of the Jefferson Center for Injury Research and Prevention (JCIRP).

Danielle Snyderman, MD, CMD (she/her) received her MD from Howard University College of Medicine. She is an Associate Professor and geriatrician in the Department of Family and Community medicine at Jefferson in Philadelphia.  She serves as the medical director of a continuing care retirement community and precepts the family medicine residents in their outpatient continuity practice.. Through her relationships with patients, she is humbled to be a collector of stories and believes writing is a form of self-care.

Liz Declan (she/her) is the Scholarly Writing Specialist at Thomas Jefferson University. She has a Master of Fine Arts in Creative Nonfiction from Bennington College, a Master's in English from Temple University, and a Bachelor's in English with a minor in Spanish from Temple University. She is an avid writer and an advocate for the idea that anyone can write.

Kyle Conner, MA, CIP has worked in the Office of Human Research at Jefferson for 25 years. He is a regulatory expert and enjoys the creative moment of interpretation. He is also a published poet and teacher, an avid cyclist, environmental advocate and dog lover.

Pamela Walter, MFA is a writer and editor who helps researchers at Jefferson communicate their work to each other and the world. She runs the Office for Professional Writing, Publishing, and Communication and teaches scholarly writing as an adjunct.

Benjamin Fleet (he/him) is a 4th year medical student at Sidney Kimmel Medical College at Thomas Jefferson University. He graduated from Indiana University in 2019, taking art courses in the Eskanazi School of Art, Architecture + Design alongside his studies in psychology and neurobiology. He is pursuing residency training in Psychiatry.
